Physicists generally claim that the universe came into existence with a Big Bang, and it is believed that nothing exists before Big Bang. In Vedas, there is a discussion about how the universe came into existence. Nasadiya Sukta(which means non-existent), which is also known as Hymn of creation, is the 129th hymn of the 10th Mandala of Rig Veda(10.129).

The above verse says that there was neither existence nor non-existence. There was neither sky nor earth, nothing was in existence. Even the space, which covers everything, wasn't in existence. In other words, nothing exist before the Big Bang.

Here 'उस समय' in the above verse refers to events before big bang. There was no cycle of birth and death. Neither a mediator for darkness and light; nor even was conscious breathing. At that time only Brahma had existed. None of the other things existed.
